First pic of teen, 18, killed after car crashed into tree just two weeks before Christmas

THIS is the first picture of the tragic 18-year-old who has been killed after the car she was in crashed into a tree just two weeks before Christmas.

The teen, named as Abbie O'Rourke, was a passenger in a silver Toyota Aygo which crashed into a tree after veering off the road.

The 18-year-old, from Southampton, Hants, was rushed to hospital following the single-vehicle collision but later died.

Two other passengers and the driver also suffered injuries in the crash in Southampton on Thursday.

HORROR CRASH

All three were taken to Southampton General Hospital where Abbie later died.

Officers from Hampshire Police are currently appealing for witnesses to establish the "exact circumstances" of the collision, which took place just before 9pm.

Family members have now released a picture of Ms O'Rourke, from Victoria Road, Netley Abbey.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses following the collision, in which two further passengers and the driver suffered injuries in the crash.

Tributes have been left at the site of crash by members of the public.

A force spokesman said: "Investigations into the exact circumstances of the collision are ongoing and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the silver Aygo in the Hamble area prior to the incident.

"The family have asked for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time."

Investigations into the exact circumstances of the collision are ongoing and officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the silver Aygo in the Hamble area prior to the incident.

Emma, 40, who lives on Sylvan Lane near to School Lane, where the crash happened, told the Southern : “There was flashing lights everywhere, it’s so sad, I feel awful for the families of those involved.

"That road is notorious for people driving so fast, it was only a matter of time before something terrible like this happens."
