Father faces life for ‘molesting his daughter and fatally shooting her in the face’
A POSSESSIVE father faces life in prison for allegedly molesting his daughter and fatally shooting her in the face.
Ronald Lee McMullen, 45, killed 22-year-old Kailee McMullen at his Oklahoma, US, home - but claimed his daughter accidentally shot herself in the early morning on July 29, 2017.
And now - more than two years later - his sentencing is set to be announced.
McMullen was found guilty in October for shooting his biological daughter and judges recommended he receive life in prison.
The Norman Police Department found Kailee dead at the scene when they arrived at McMullen's house in June 2017.
They also found McMullen wearing a tank top soaked in blood and his wife, Karen, attempting to resuscitate their daughter.
Police arrested McMullen on July 5, 2017. He was booked into the Cleveland County Court Detention Center on a complaint of the first-degree murder.
According to the , the court was told about "disturbing" dynamics in the father-daughter relationship.
Prosecutor Jennifer Austin said: "This was years and years of a relationship that was very difficult and very controlling.
"You can tell in the text messages that it was almost like a controlling boyfriend-girlfriend relationship."
The night before Kailee was killed, text messages revealed that she'd gone a date. They also suggested that McMullen threatened to drive to Kailee and bring her back home.
Kailee reportedly lived in her grandparents house, located directed behind her father's house, according to Metro.
It's understood that Kailee returned home around 1am from her date.
Officials believed Kailee was shot between 5.15 and 5.30am - but McMullen didn't notify emergency services until 5.42am, the court was told.

As stated by the Oklahoma State Court Networks website, McMullan’s formal sentencing hearing is scheduled for today.
Cleveland County Judge Thad Balkman is expected to make the decision.
