The minute-long video, which was shared on Twitter, shows Melania - wearing a cream coat, matching dress and stiletto heels - enjoying the work of volunteers, who helped to decorate the residence.

The festive reveal comes after the first family arrived home to the White House on Sunday after spending Thanksgiving in Florida.

'SPIRIT OF AMERICA' THEME

Sharing the video on Twitter, Melania wrote: "'The Spirit of America' is shining in the @WhiteHouse! I am delighted to share this beautiful exhibit of patriotism for all to see, and excited for everyone to experience the beauty of the #Christmas season!"

The grand display features stunning patriotic ornaments, fake snow, and a large advent calendar.

Other decorations include domino pieces and playing cards hanging from a lavish Christmas tree.

On Saturday she said: "Volunteers are hard at work at the @WhiteHouse. Thank you to all who came all across our great nation to decorate the People's House. Looking forward to view it tomorrow evening! #ChristmasWhiteHouse."

MONTHS OF PLANNING

Melania and her staff put in months of work on the decorations that will fill the public reception rooms at the White House for the holidays.

The first lady began planning this year's festive decor early in the summer.

The White House added: "Each year, the White House is decorated for Christmas by a team of dedicated volunteers! The White House Christmas decorations, carefully selected by @FLOTUS, will be on display beginning soon!"

Melania had welcomed the official White House Christmas Tree last Monday, with this year's tree being over a whopping five meters tall and 16 years old.

The official White House Christmas Tree is selected in an annual contest by the National Christmas Tree Association, and this year's winning tree was presented by Larry Snyder of Mahantongo Valley Farms.

The tree is displayed in the Blue Room.

Tweeting pictures of the tree arriving, Melania wrote: "The @WhiteHouse #ChristmasTree2019 has been delivered, and we look forward to appreciating the peace and joy it signifies all throughout the holiday season! Thank you to Snyder Family who brought us this tree, all the way from Pitman, PA."

She added a video, writing: "Special delivery! The @WhiteHouse is excited to welcome its #ChristmasTree for 2019. This beautiful tree was grown by the Snyder family from Mahantongo Valley Farms in Pitman, PA. We are excited to display this tree in the Blue Room of the People's House!"
