A HERO was seen ripping a 5ft narwhal tusk off a wall to fight off the London Bridge knife attacker as terror struck the heart of the capital.
But what exactly is a narwhal's tusk and what did the hero do with it? Here's what we know.
What is narwhal tusk?
The narwhal tusk—most commonly found on males—is an enlarged tooth with sensory capability and up to 10million nerve endings inside.
Some narwhals have up to two tusks, while others have none.
The spiralled tusk juts from the head and can grow as long at 10 feet.
How was the narwhal tusk used in the London Bridge attack?
A hero was seen ripping a 5ft narwhal tusk off a wall to fight off the London Bridge knife attacker as terror struck the heart of the capital.
The brave bystander was inside Fishmongers' Hall when convicted terrorist Usman Khan, 28, unleashed a shocking rampage that left two people dead.
The suspected Islamic knifeman was a guest at a Cambridge University conference on prisoner rehabilitation when he threatened to blow up the historic Fishmongers' Hall on Friday afternoon.
Those at the event at the Grade II listed building said he entered the main hall and went on a rampage, attacking anyone who crossed his path.
Director Amy Coop tweeted: "A guy who was with us at Fishmongers Hall took a 5’ narwhale tusk from the wall and went out to confront the attacker.
"You can see him standing over the man (with what looks like a white pole) in the video.
"We were trying to help victims inside but that man’s a hero".
