Parents ‘appalled’ after link on primary school’s website displayed PORN

A PRIMARY school has been slammed by appalled parents after a link on their website sent them to a porn site.

St John’s Primary School was left red faced after it was discovered that anyone attempting to make a complaint was sent to the explicit page.

Parents looking for information on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities services on a document accessible on the site were horrified to be faced with graphic images and pictures.

It was revealed last month that Surrey County Council had previously owned the domain before it was taken over by the adult content provider.

They claimed that they informed all of the schools that could use the link about the swap including St John’s, in Woking, Surrey.

One furious parent told the Sun: “I am absolutely appalled that this could even happen.

“Surely there should be someone proofreading their documents before they are uploaded, or checking links.

'VERY OFFENSIVE'

“Its awful, anyone who was very religious could find it very offensive. It’s just the fact that it is there at all in the first place.

“If the school was aware of the breach from the council then that is over a month and they haven’t update it at all.

“It is their responsibility to sort it out and check for it.”

St John’s declined to comment and has since removed the document with the link from their website.
Surrey County Council apologised at the time for those who “inadvertently” accessed it, and claimed they stopped using the site two years ago.

They discovered that the new site was hosting “inappropriate content” in October, and said in a statement that the change was communicated to all schools in 2017.

The statement added: “We have also been communicating with schools and partners to ensure they remove the old domain and that they are using the correct link on their websites.

“We are very sorry for any offence this may have caused and have apologised directly to the small number of people who inadvertently accessed this link and who may have been shocked by its content.
“We have implemented several extra measures to our website procedures to prevent a similar situation occurring in the future, including removing a forwarding link halfway through the retention period to reveal any broken links before releasing a domain.”
