Boris Johnson ‘affair’ businesswoman Jennifer Arcuri claims he cast her aside like a ‘gremlin’ after cash row

A US businesswoman was cast aside like a “gremlin” by Boris Johnson after a conflict of interest cash row.

Entrepreneur Jennifer Arcuri hit out at the PM saying she wished he had declared their personal relationship to avoid “humiliation”.

She has reportedly received a total of £126,000 in public money and went on three foreign trade missions led by Mr Johnson when he was London Mayor.

A documentary to be broadcast on ITV on Sunday night also alleges the pair had an affair lasting more than four years - but has recently been fobbed off by an aide who spoke Chinese when she got through to his phone.

She refused to give details on the nature of their relationship but revealed she came under huge pressure from pals to “admit the affair”.

Arcuri says she has become “collateral damage” but the PM has been “unaffected”.

In a public address to the PM, she said: “I’ve been nothing but loyal, faithful, supportive, and a true confidante of yours. I’ve kept your secrets, and I’ve been your friend.

“And I don’t understand why you’ve blocked me and ignored me as if I was some fleeting one-night stand or some girl that you picked up at a bar because I wasn’t - and you know that.

“And I’m terribly heartbroken by the way that you have cast me aside like I am some gremlin.”

Arcuri was given £126,000 in public cash and allowed on to travel with Mr Johnson on three trade missions.

'WHY DID YOU BLOCK ME'

A City Hall probe was halted after a request by the Independent Office for Police Conduct while a government review was carried out into a £100,000 cyber skills grant from Whitehall. The probe found the money was “appropriate”.

Arcuri has made several attempts to contact Mr Johnson but they have not had a conversation - instead, on one occasion, a close aide started speaking Chinese.

When asked about the most recent call, she said: “He heard my voice. And I knew it was him. And he hung up.

“He said “Yes hello”. And I simply asked “Why did you block me?” …I wasn’t calling to cause problems, I merely just wanted a simple... acknowledgement for what had happened.”

She also said she felt “disgusted and humiliated” when an earlier attempt to contact him was brushed away - similar to “one of Kennedy’s girlfriends showing up to his White House switchboard”.

Arcuri has previously claimed Mr Johnson had visited her flat, which had a dancing pole, in east London for “technology lessons”.

A Conservative Party spokesman on Saturday night said: “Any claims of impropriety in office are untrue and unfounded. We consider these are vexatious and politically motivated attacks from the Labour Party in City Hall.

“Previous vexatious and unfounded allegations against the Prime Minister have been thrown out by the courts.

“An independent review by the Government Internal Audit Agency showed the claims made by the Labour Party about Ms Arcuri’s company were false.

“Given that City Hall has made an unfounded complaint to the IOPC, we will not be making detailed comments until that process has finished. Full assistance has been offered to the IOPC so the matter can be quickly resolved.”
