Kate Middleton and Prince William ‘humbled’ as they meet Grenfell and terror attack victims

KATE Middleton and Prince William today revealed how "humbled" they were to meet with survivors of the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also spoke to people caught up in the horrific Westminster Bridge terror attack as they raised awareness for the work done by emergency services.

Speaking today, Prince William praised how Brits "pulled together" in times of tragedy.

He said: "Just now and on previous occasions, it has been humbling to speak to survivors of the London Bridge and Manchester attacks, the Cumbria floods, the Grenfell Tower fire and other disasters here in the UK. Their stories are as heart-breaking as they are inspiring.

"Their resilience and strength are deeply humbling."

He added: "Whenever and wherever disaster strikes here in the UK, this country has a unique way of pulling together.

"I am very pleased that National Emergencies Trust now stands ready to provide a structured, organised response to help people."

Prince William had been enlisted for the launch, however wife Kate was a surprise announcement on Tuesday.

And the duchess stunned as she arrived with her husband, wearing a blue Emilia Wickstead dress paired with black heels.

She paired the outfit with earrings once owned by Princess Diana, and an elegant envelope clutch by Aspinal x Beulah.

She also wore her Women of the First World War poppy brooch. Each brooch comes with a certificate commemorating the life of a woman who lost her life as a direct result of the First World War.

The royals, both 37, were today attending the launch of the National Emergencies Trust at St-Martin-in-the-Fields, London, this morning.

The trust was set up in the wake of a string of tragedies, including the five killed in the Westminster Bridge attack in March 2017 and the 72 lives lost in the Grenfell blaze just three months later.

The parents - whose eldest two children Prince George, six, and Princess Charlotte, four, both go to school, had taken a short break from royal duties during half-term.

The couple had previously attended a service for those killed in the Grenfell tragedy, with Kate even bringing presents to families who lost their homes.

The National Emergencies Trust works to deal with fundraising and fund distribution after disasters.

It's not the first time the royal family has been involved in supporting those affected by the tragedy.

Meghan Markle helped raise more than £500,00 after helping to launch the Together community cookbook.

The Duchess of Sussex had made several private visits to the community kitchen and the cookbook was her first solo project as a royal.

And adorable footage was today released of Meghan and Harry meeting with military families - gushing that their five-month-old son Archie was already crawling.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also attended a Remembrance Service today, laying poppies at Westminster Abbey's Field of Remembrance.

It comes after the Queen yesterday helped to pitch in as she visited the Royal British Legion Industries ahead of Remembrance Day.

The monarch waved to crowds as she stepped out of her limousine wearing a long coat of deep purple and matching hat.

The 93-year-old also helped bury a time capsule which will be opened in 100 years time.
