There is so much more at stake this general election than just the threat Labour poses to Brexit
No Marx
IF you doubt how catastrophic Jeremy Corbyn’s Marxist revolution would be, consider the cost of his plans to nationalise large swathes of British industry.
Households across the UK could suffer average losses of nearly £1,000 each from pensions and savings if Labour’s zealots were to pay below market value for the companies, according to economists.
Even if they paid a fair price, Labour would mortgage the future of younger generations to meet the eye-watering £193billion-plus cost of taking the companies back into state ownership.
And for what? To suit the ideological posturing of Corbyn and his fellow extremist John McDonnell.
It’s not as if the railways or the energy companies would be better run. Just ask anyone old enough to remember British Rail.
While dinosaurs Corbyn and McDonnell play fantasy politics, aspirational young working class voters have more realistic priorities. Such as wanting reductions in income tax and stamp duty.
There is so much more at stake in this general election than just the threat Labour poses to Brexit.
Brex mess
DOES anyone know what Labour’s position on Brexit is?
Jeremy Corbyn claims to have told his squabbling shadow cabinet to fall in behind him and toe the party line.
Whether Corbyn will let the voters know what that agreed position is before the election is another matter.
Given Labour fought the last election promising to respect the referendum result and has done everything possible since to thwart it, we doubt it.
It is suggested Labour would try to renegotiate with the EU for a closer trading partnership (Brexit-but-not-Brexit), then hold another referendum.
What they would do about the inevitable deadlock is anyone’s guess. Meanwhile, several Labour front-benchers have suggested they would campaign for Remain.
One union leader has branded them “ludicrous”. The fudges and fence-sitting may have worked for Corbyn in 2017 but surely it won’t fool voters again. For now though, his indecision is final.
Rude health
NO sooner have doctors pleaded with politicians on all sides not to weaponise the NHS than Labour is caught peddling yet more health lies.
This time Labour’s Jonathan Ashworth claimed hospital operation cancellations have rocketed.
Wrong. The figure for cancelled ops has been falling.
Labour has been using the NHS as a political football for so long they just can’t help the irresponsible scaremongering.
