Labour election campaigners urged to skive for Jeremy Corbyn by ‘out-of-touch’ Momentum group
HARD-LEFT Momentum group was accused of being out of touch on Monday night after it urged activists to take a week off work to campaign for Jeremy Corbyn.
The group called on activists to become ‘Labour legends’ and take time off from their day job to campaign for the Labour boss.
And they have even urged uni students to move around their course so they can hit the campaign trail.
Laura Parker, Momentum’s national co-ordinator, said: “The stakes couldn’t be higher this election and we need activists to step up even further if we are to stop Boris Johnson selling off our future.
“We are calling on people to become Labour Legends by committing as much time as they can to make sure our movement is fighting as hard as it can everywhere in the country throughout the next six weeks.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get a government which stands for real change.
But Tory MP Henry Smith told The Sun it is totally unrealistic to expect people to take time off.
He said: “Isn’t Jeremy Corbyn proposing a four day week?
“Momentum’s policy is in line with what you would expect from the Labour leader but in reality it is totally unrealistic.
“Hardworking people want to be able to make the most of their jobs to provide for their families.
“I would advise them to carry on with their work rather than support a neo Marxist like Corbyn.”
