Boris Johnson challenges Jeremy Corbyn to finally ‘come clean’ with voters and dares him to rule out cancelling Brexit
BORIS Johnson demanded Jeremy Corbyn finally “come clean” with voters as he dared the Labour boss to rule out cancelling Brexit.
The PM demanded the hard-left Labour boss finally stop sitting on the fence and spell out exactly what he would do on quitting the EU if he wins power.
In a hard-hitting letter to his rival, Boris set out five crunch Brexit questions he said the wannabe PM must answer if he wants to lead Britain.
He blasted Mr Corbyn’s plan for another Brexit referendum – warning it will plunge the UK into years more “dither and delay”.
He said: “Your current position seems to be that you want to go back to square one.
“You want to throw out the great new deal we have reached with our European friends, and instead negotiate a whole new treaty from scratch.
“Even assuming the EU agrees to go back to the very beginning, this will take months and possibly years to do.
“Under your proposals, 2020 will be lost to more dither and delay over Brexit." He added: “For months you have refused to say what sort of ‘deal’ you want with the EU.
“Now the time has come for you to come clean, and explain what your plan really is so when the public vote on December 12th, they know what they are voting for.”
'DITHER AND DELAY'
He also demanded Mr Corbyn rule out doing a deal with the Lib Dems to revoke Article 50 and cancel Brexit if he becomes PM in a hung Parliament.
Labour has been rocked by a bitter Brexit civil war as the leadership has tried to appease both its Remainer and Leaver supporters.
Mr Corbyn has vowed to try to renegotiate Brexit and then put it to another referendum within six months if he snatches the keys to No10.
But he has bizarrely refused to say if Labour would campaign for their own deal or not.
While many Labour frontbenchers, including Tom Watson and Emily Thornberry, have broken ranks to publicly declare they will campaign to Remain.
Mr Johnson said his Labour rival must finally stop sitting on the fence and explain to voters exactly what he will do on Brexit.
He demanded to know the answer to five questions. They are:
- Do you believe the result of the 2016 referendum should be respected and the UK should leave the EU?
- Is the Labour Party’s policy to keep the UK in the customs union and would it end free movement in any deal it negotiates?
- Would you commit to campaigning on your ‘deal‘ in a second referendum?
- What is your timetable to renegotiate a new deal and then hold a second referendum?
- Will you rule out revoking Article 50 and cancelling Brexit if there is a hung Parliament?
Mr Johnson turned the screw on Labour’s Brexit chaos as Mr Corbyn gives a big speech on Brexit tomorrow.
Boris promised to get on with delivering Brexit “on day one” if he is elected on December 12.
He added: “I and the voting public await your answers with interest.

"It is already clear that your plan will result in years’ more expensive delay and will prolong the divisions in our society.
“If politicians force the public to vote again because they don’t like the result of an election, we will destroy all faith in our democratic process.
“Instead, we must show the British people that politicians can be trusted to honour their vote and get Brexit done immediately.”
