DISABILITY heroes have missed a charity event amid continuing eco protest chaos.

Among those forced to pull out was Dan Biddle — a survivor of 7/7.

The 40-year-old, who lost both legs in the 2005 terror attack, was due to attend a prestigious reception at the House of Lords on Tuesday night.

But he was unable to get to Westminster as Extinction Rebellion protesters — slammed as “crusties” by the PM — blocked roads.

Dan told The Sun: “I am furious about it. I agree we have to deal with climate change, but this isn’t the way to get the message across.

“I think it’s a disgrace the protesters have impacted this event like this — there doesn’t seem to be much respect there.”

Dan, of Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, was due to attend the annual Shaw Trust Power 100 reception honouring the most influential disabled folk in Britain.

He said: “Everyone there has overcome adversity and being recognised for the work they do is a huge honour. Not being able to get there is a sickener.”

ROBE VS RABBLE

In Westminster, a Tory peer confronted eco activists in his dressing gown and slippers on Tuesday.

Lord Andrew Fraser, 72, came out of his house as a protesters waved banners and banged a drum.

The former Conservative party treasurer then stood on his doorstep waving his fist.
Routes in and out of the area were completely blocked on Tuesday.

Police ordered protesters to move on to Trafalgar Square or face arrest. But each time six officers lifted up an activist to move them, another took their place.

LUVVIES' 'HYPOCRISY'

Celebs Daisy Lowe, 30, and Ruby Wax, 66, have been slammed for joining Extinction Rebellion protests and flying abroad. Daisy has been to Ibiza, Venice and Greece this year and Ruby to Norway and China.

MP Pauline Latham said: “It’s hypocritical. They’re telling people to do one thing and then doing another.”

Protesters glued themselves to Department of Transport buildings on Tuesday.

Cops cleared Lambeth and Westminster bridges but a sit-in disrupted deliveries at Smithfield Market.

On Tuesday night the number of arrests hit more than 530.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps told LBC radio: “Police need to be a little bit more pro-active.”
