ENVIRONMENT fanatics Extinction Rebellion now have their very own symbol - an hourglass in a black circle.
Here we explain what the symbol means and where the logo has been used.
What is the Extinction Rebellion symbol?
The Extinction Rebellion symbol is meant to depict an hourglass - because time is rapidly running out for many species.
The Extinction Symbol was created by London artist ESP in 2011.
Estimates claim that between 30,000 and 140,000 species are at risk of becoming extinct.
The group urges activists to create the symbol in any location they "feel able to" - but refuses to allow it to be used on merchandise.
Where has it been used?
Activists defaced Wiltshire’s Alton Barnes White Horse with Extinction Rebellion’s symbol.
Angry locals branded Sunday’s stunt using cloth over the chalk as “misguided vandalism”.
The leftie group used dark cloth to create the symbol which they placed on the chalk horse.
