Labour MP suspended over claims he sexually harassed a younger party member during a boozy night out
LABOUR suspended an MP yesterday over claims he sexually harassed a member on a drink-laden night at a curry house.
Stephen Hepburn, 59, has been excluded while party bosses investigate.
The Jarrow MP allegedly cornered a woman in her 20s during the outing in 2005 and tried to join her in a taxi home.
Another MP, who is not named, complained to the party this year as Parliament was rocked by the “Sexminster scandal”.
That MP said in a statement Mr Hepburn had made “laddish ‘banter’ and the atmosphere was rather awkward”, HuffPost UK reports.
They added: “He was a little drunk — loose- tongued and jovial.”
Mr Hepburn did not reply when contacted.
