The child is understood to be unhurt, and was released to Salford council's children's services team after a hospital examination.
An officer stood guard outside the taped-up house for most of yesterday.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Police were called shortly after 10.40am on Thursday, October 3 following a report of an unaccompanied child at an address on Bolton Road.
