A MAN got the surprise of his life after dropping off his car for an MOT when dashcam footage appeared to show garage staff speeding around in the vehicle.

Andrew Siggens was furious when the camera on his Nissan Juke showed a member of staff driving at 54mph on a 40mph road.

Andrew had just dropped off his car for an MOT
: “Had I not had a dashcam and been landed with points on my driving licence due to a speed camera picking this up, I’d have been seriously prejudiced for my hopes of joining the police force.

“Luckily that is not the case, but it goes without saying that I feel very strongly about speeding."

Andrew says there is no excuse for what happened

Andrew dropped off his Nissan Juke at Bristol Street Motors in Darlington, Co Durham, on November 15 for an annual check up, and complained to company bosses as soon as he saw the footage.

Although the the firm has apologised, Andrew says there is no excuse for what happened.

Andrew, of Hartlepool, continued: “I was disgusted when I saw it - it certainly was a shock to see.

“It’s not something you would expect to happen from such a big company.

"How many more people has this happened to who will be blissfully unaware a technician has sped in their vehicle?

“Procedures need to be put in place, not only by Bristol Street Motors, but by all major dealerships.
