Beautiful classic Maserati expected to fetch a fortune at auction – and it had a special CELEBRITY owner

A MINT Maserati is going up for sale at auction for an incredible amount of money due to its famous ex-owner.

The classic 1964 Maserati Mistral 3700 is the very car used on the stand at the Earls Court Motor Show of the same year.

After appearing at the London motor show, the plan was for this Mistral to be used as a demonstrator for potential buyers, but that wasn't to be.

Famous actress, singer and so-called 'English Marilyn Monroe' Diana Dors saw the Mazzer on the stand and simply had to have it.

And have it she did.

Dors was no stranger to publicity, featuring in the press as the youngest person to own a Rolls-Royce, despite the fact that she was not even old enough to drive at the time.

No doubt this sleek drop-top was exactly the sort of thing she was after.

After Dors was done with it, the car was bought by an Australian and shipped out to Oz in 1974.

Since it's had a two-year restoration and is now in perfect nick. Hence why experts reckon it'll fetch between £475,000 and £550,000 when it goes under the hammer on 28th May 2022.

Despite it approaching 60 years of age, the Mistral is still no slouch, even by today's standards.

It has a 3.7-litre engine that's capable of firing it from 0-62mph in just 6.2 seconds and on to 160mph.

That's almost as quick as the latest VW Golf GTI, so was supercar quick in 1964.

This is one of just 14 Maserati Mistrals 3700s supplied to the UK, so is a chance to buy something very rare, with a particularly great celebrity history.
