UK’s top ten postcodes for car thefts revealed – is your area on the list?
THE UK's top ten postcodes for car thefts have been revealed - with drivers in Leicester, Slough and Swindon the most at risk.
And Ford Fiestas, VW Golfs, Ford Focuses and Vauxhall Corsas are the most-popular cars to be nicked, DVLA data has revealed.
The most at-risk locations are broken down by postcode in the data, revealed in a Freedom of Information request to the government body.
Leicester's LE2 comes out on top with 342 stolen cars reported in the last year - followed closely by SL1 in Slough with 285 and Swindon's SN5 with 268.
Coming in fourth is the GU11 postcode in Aldershot with 263, while Birmingham B25 had 256, reports.
The well-off postcodes in Aldershot and Swindon saw pricier cars on thieves' radars - with Range Rover Evoques and Land Rover Discoverys coming out on top, the paper reports.
In total, 75,000 cars were stolen in the UK in the last year alone - or one every seven minutes.
Remote control jammers are becoming an increasingly common tool used by car thieves.
