You could get free car brakes for life from Halfords – saving you £1,600 in replacement costs
MANY drivers will often put off getting their brakes checked in a bid to save money.
But a new deal from Halfords could mean you'll save more than £1,600 over a lifetime in replacement costs.
Customers who buy brake pads or shoes from a Halfords Autocentres store can receive a lifetime of free replacement break pads or shoes.
The offer will even continue when you replace your car with a new set of wheels.
The deal, which comes as a part of its Brakes4Life program, aims to crackdown on drivers who avoid getting their brakes checked.
Halfords is also offering free brake checks, which inspects all the components of the braking system, at all of its stores across the UK.
Signs that your brake pads need changing
- Loud screeching sound when braking
- Abnormal vibrating when braking
- Brake pedal is softer to depress than normal
- Car stopping distances have increased
- Grinding sound when pressing the car's brakes
- Brake fluid warning light is flashing
Depending on how you drive your motor, brake pads can last anywhere from 25,000 to 60,000 miles.
If you heavily rely upon your brakes though when driving, they're more likely to wear sustain wear and tear.
Warning signs that you may need your pads changed include a loud screeching when pressing down on the brakes, your stopping distance has increased or the brake pedal feels softer than normal.
It can also prove handy to regularly check the brake pads by looking through the spokes in your wheel, with three millimetres of visible pad recommended at all times..
If you see anything less, get them inspected immediately as defective brakes can be deadly.
