World’s most famous Bond car from Goldfinger and Thunderball to sell for £4.7million – and it comes complete with machine guns, tyre slashers and bullet-proof glass

ONE of the world's most famous Bond cars is set to go up for auction for £4.7million.
And it comes with its own replica machine guns, tyre slashers and smoke screen dispensers.
The vintage 1965 Aston Martin DB5 is expected to gain plenty of interest when it goes under the hammer in California on August 15.
The classic model is one of the most recognisable cars in the world and featured in the 1964 Bond classic Goldfinger, starring Sean Connery.
While this particular model wasn't driven by 007, it was one of three motors ordered by Eon Productions in preparation for the film.
Following the success of Goldfinger, this Aston was fully equipped with all the Bond gadgets and used as a promotional car in the lead up to the 1965 film Thunderball.
Like most motors in the long-standing series, the DB5 is flush with plenty of gadgets including a hidden machine gun, wheel-hub tyre slashers and bullet-proof screen.
It even has working smoke screen dispensers and a revolving licence plate.
Despite being in working condition, the machine gun barrels don't actually fire bullets.
There's also a removable roof panel to accommodate the replica passenger-side ejector seat, made famous in the Bond films.
The lucky buyer will even be able to take the car out for a spin as the DB5 is street legal.
Ahead of the sale, legendary Bond actor Sean Connery, who drove an identical model in both Goldfinger and Thunderball, said: "These DB5s are amazing – I remember the Furka Pass tire shredding as well as the promotional events with these cars – they have become increasingly iconic since Goldfinger and Thunderball, in fact I bought a very fine DB5 myself relatively recently."
Barney Ruprecht, car specialists at RM Sotheby, said: "No other car in history has played a more important leading role on film and in pop culture than the Aston Martin DB5.
"The DB5 is the iconic cornerstone of a marketing relationship that still exists to this day—with the model’s collectible status rooted largely in its 007 fame—and we look forward to exciting car and film enthusiasts alike in the lead up to the auction.
"This is an unbelievably rare chance to play secret agent in a car that offers incredible performance and style in its own right and we’re honoured to offer the Bond DB5 alongside our partners at Aston Martin."
It's not the first Bond car to turn heads at an auction, with another DB5 driven by Pierce Brosnan selling for £1.6million.
Another classic DB5 was last year transformed into a replica of James Bond's Goldfinger car.
And Aston Martin recently gave fans a glimpse at their exclusive line of replica DB5 models with working 007 gadgets.
