UK’s vehicle crime hotspots revealed as rising rates saw over 450,000 offences last year
Metropolitan Police recorded 113,014 incidents last year - the equivalent of 310 a day
THE UK's vehicle crime hotspots have been revealed as the rising rate hits over 450,000 offences.
And London was the worst region for vehicle break-ins and thefts, with more than a quarter occurring in the UK capital.
New data from private number plates provider Click4Reg.co.uk has revealed 450,509 vehicle crimes happened last year.
Metropolitan Police recorded the highest number of vehicle offences in the country, with 113,014 incidents last year - the equivalent of 310 a day.
More than 37,000 vehicles offences were recorded in the West Midlands region last year, while Greater Manchester Police received almost 31,000 reports of car crimes.
The research collected the total number of vehicles crimes reported to 42 police forces across the UK.
Vehicle crime includes car theft, break-ins and purposefully damaging a vehicle.
Bedfordshire Police experienced the highest increase across the UK, with a 35 per cent jump in vehicle-related crimes from 2017 to 2018.
City of London Police had the lowest number of reported crimes, with only 252 incidents last year likely due to fact they are responsible for just The Square Mile.
Dyfed-Powys Police - who patrol the Welsh counties of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, and Powys - had the next lowest incidents with just over 1000 offences.

Ellie Fakhoury, managing director of Click4Reg.co.uk, said: "With the overall number of vehicle offences increasing from the prior year, it’s a crime which is really impacting drivers.
"It’s unfortunate, as many car owners spend a ton of time and money on maintaining all aspects of their vehicle to ensure it runs effortlessly and is road-worthy.
"Whilst vehicle crime may seem difficult to combat, it is in fact one of the more preventable crimes."
