Brits favourite car colours revealed – by gender, profession, region and car make
Despite the plethora of paint colours available, black is the most popular choice for UK car owners
BRITS are keeping it classic, as black is by far the favourite car choice colour.
It makes up a quarter of all vehicles on UK roads, according to a new study by insurer Admiral.
It’s also the favourite car colour for both men and women, as well as the most popular choice for 14 out of 20 major car brands.
Blue is the second-favourite car colour, making up almost a fifth of all cars on the road.
Ford, Honda, Mazda and Rolls-Royce cars also sport the colour most across their models.
Unsurprisingly, red is the favourite Ferrari colour, while white is chosen for most Fiats.
Meanwhile, Colchester has the highest proportion of purple cars – the least popular colour nationwide.
In terms of professions, taxi drivers are also 162 per cent more likely to have a purple car than the average driver.
Hairdressers are 72 per cent more likely to choose a yellow car than the rest of the nation, while driving instructors are 58 per cent more likely to own a brown motor.
As opposed to the traditional black, undertakers are in fact 26 per cent more likely to drive a grey car with teachers 14 per cent more likely to have a red car than the national average.
Sabine Williams, Admiral Head of Motors, said: “Our analysis shows that classic black is the nation’s favourite car colour regardless of where in the country you live.
“It’s interesting that in an age where people want to express their individuality in how they look, so many of us still resort to choosing the same colour cars.
“Three quarters of motorists drive either a black, blue, grey or white car.”
