Teenage billionaire heir Charles William Llewellyn Cadogan fined for speeding because he was ‘excited to reach his family estate’
The 19-year-old son of Viscount Chelsea was fined £300 and given four points on his licence
TEEN aristocrat ‘Charlie’ Cadogan has pleaded guilty to speeding when driving from his home in London to his family’s 2,800-acre Scottish estate.
The former Harrow School student was driving his grey BMW at 71mph on the A9, which was restricted to 50mph due to major road works.
Representing himself at Perth’s Justice of the Peace court, the Honourable Charles William Llewellyn Cadogan was handed a £300 fine and four points on his driving licence.
The 19-year-old was pulled over by police just before 2:15pm on June 27 on the way to Snaigow Estate, which is east of Dunkeld in Perthshire.
Edward Cadogan, who is Viscount Chelsea, accompanied his son at court.
Meanwhile Charlie’s grandfather, the Earl of Cadogan, helped build a family fortune worth £6.5billion through property investment.
The 81-year-old – who briefly chaired Chelsea FC in 1981-82 – is richer than the Queen.
Charlie said in a statement: “I write this letter of mitigation to apologise for the offence I have committed.
“I completely understand why I have been charged.
“I was driving from my home in London to my home in Scotland and the excitement of being close to home after a long drive perhaps led to a momentary blip of concentration in my speed for which there’s no excuse.
“I believe I have learned my lesson due to the disappointment of my parents and the disappointment in myself having committed an offence like this.
“My deepest apologies go out to those I have troubled in my actions and the process of my offence.
“I have never had any problems with the police previously and I intend to have no future problems.
“All I can ask is for forgiveness as everyone makes mistakes, especially at a young age.”
