ONE of the most celebrity-driven cars is up for auction, as the Top Gear show's Vauxhall Astra goes to auction.

Actors Will Smith, Margot Robbie and former British heavyweight champion boxer David Haye have all taken the 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car' on a hot lap.

The red hatchback featured on Top Gear for the last three seasons presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.

Bidding on the Astra has already started on the William George & Co auction website. However, the reserve price of £12,000 has currently not been met with £500 still needed to hit target.

The 2013 car also features the full list of celebrities and their lap times on the bonnet, along with camera mounts and a roll cage on the inside.

Benedict Cumberbatch, Ron Howard, Jimmy Carr and Hugh Jackman are among the 22 famous people to have driven the Vauxhall.

British singer Olly Murs holds the fastest time, closely followed - by a tenth of a second - by actors Nicholas Hoult from X-Men and Breaking bad star Aaron Paul.

Genesis musician Mike Rutherford posted the slowest lap in the car at 1:51.5, ahead of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.

British singers James Blunt and Joss Stone fell mid-table, while Countdown's Rachel Riley and X-Files actress Gillian Anderson recorded the same time of 1:48.5.

The Stig also gave comedian Jack Whitehall his first driving lesson in the car.

Boasting 4,000 miles on the clock, the Astra has only been driven once since the show when its current owner featured the car at The Performance Vauxhall show at Santapod.

Only two bids have been registered for the motor so far at £11,000 and £11,500.

The auction for this unique piece of TV motoring history ends on July 12.
