‘Corsa Cannibals’ warning as yet another Vauxhall is stripped of its bonnet and headlights in mystery attack
Over the past three years Vauxhall Corsas have been targeted across the country with thieves stripping parts off parked cars.
VAUXHALL owners are being warned about the return of the "Corsa Cannibals".
The budget supermini has been targeted over the last three years by thieves who strip parked cars of bonnets and headlights.
The latest bizarre attack was reported in Lincolnshire when a couple returned to their hatchback after a night out.
Charlotte Moors, 46, and her partner, Andy Meanwell had parked their Corsa in a nearby car park they regularly use.
After dinner and drinks in Zizzi, they got a taxi home and decided to pick the car up in the morning.
However, when they arrived they found half the car missing.
Community nurse Charlotte told the : "I had a life-time warranty on the car and only had two more payments to make.
"I work hard and just think it is so upsetting and disrespectful for someone to do this.
"My insurance will now double and really it is just time-consuming. I need a reliable car to get me around."
Charlotte is the latest in a long line of Corsa attacks that dates back to 2015.
Previous estimates suggest there have been as many as 500 reported cases of cars being stripped back to nuts and bolts.
Bedfordshire has previously been a hotspot but offences have also been recorded in Durham and now Lincolnshire.
Vauxhall has previously stated there is no security issue with the cars but skilled thieves appear able to remove valuable parts without causing damage.
It's believed Corsas are targeted because of their popularity with young drivers who are more likely to be involved in crashes and need spare parts.

Charlotte, who now faces an insurance payout for the write-off, added: "I won’t get a car like that.
"It was so economical, which was great for work.
"I don’t think these people understand the impact it can have on a nurse doing the job I do. I depend on my car."
