Brabham BT62 revealed: Legendary F1 name is BACK with incredible limited-edition £1million supercar
Famous name from the golden era of F1 has returned with a new supercar primed for track action
THE iconic Brabham name is BACK - with a stunning new £1million track-ready supercar.
The famous F1 team won 35 races and four world titles and now it hopes to return to glory at Le Mans with the BT62.
Just 70 of the 700bhp beasts will be made to commemorate the 70th anniversary of founder Jack Brabham's racing debut.
And the launch car is painted in the famous green and gold of founder Sir Jack Brabham's 1966 F1 race win in BT19.
Later that year he became the first - and to date only - driver to win a world title in a car of his own construction.
The first 35 cars will be coloured in tribute to each of Brabham’s F1 Grand Prix victories.
The BT62 name also follows the tradition first used by Aussie Brabham and co-founder Ron Tauranac in the 1960s.
Prices for the track-only car start at £1million before you add on local taxes and options.
Featuring a 5.4-litre V8 engine and a lightweight carbon fibre body it tips the scales at just 972kg.
Owners will also take part in a tailored driver development programme to help them get the best out of the race cars behind the racing wheel.
First deliveries of the Brabham BT62 are expected later this year with cars being made at a factory in Adelaide, South Australia.
Managing director David Brabham, Sir Jack's son and a multiple Le Mans winner himself, said: "It’s with great pride that I honour and continue my father’s legacy in revealing the next chapter in the evolving Brabham story.
"Our first step to deliver on that strategy is the Brabham BT62, a car truly worthy of carrying the iconic Brabham name.”
"I set out twelve years ago to re-establish the iconic Brabham name, determined to see it return to global competition.

"My father had an incredible determination to succeed and, like him, I’ve worked tirelessly through this time, drawing on my experience as a racing driver, leader and mentor, never once losing sight of that goal.
"It’s been challenging at times, but what we have achieved is simply staggering.
"Today’s unveiling makes me feel incredibly proud as the Brabham legacy enters a new era."
