Brits are being ripped off at fuel pumps as it’s revealed 18 European countries are cheaper to fill up with petrol – and 25 have cheaper diesel
The UK ranks just 19th on the list of the best value petrol in Europe - and it's even more expensive for diesel drivers
BRITS are being ripped off at the fuel pumps, according to a recent study.
Petrol and diesel prices across Europe have been calculated, and the UK doesn't even come close to the top 10 cheapest destinations.
Conducted by Just Tyres, the study found that Britain ranked just 19th on the list of Europe's cheapest places to refuel.
And it's worse news for diesel drivers, as the nation came in at 25th out of 29 countries analysed.
Bulgaria took the top spot as the country with the cheapest petrol, where the equivalent of £50 would buy 53.8 litres of fuel.
The Balkan nation also came in at second for being home to the cheapest diesel, while drivers in Luxembourg got the best price at 55.6 litres for £50.
Drivers in Poland could get 51 litres of petrol or 52.1 litres of diesel for £50.
And Romania also offered cheap fuel, with £50 buying 50.5 litres of petrol.
In comparison, British motorists were only able to squeeze 41 litres of petrol out of a £50 note, while those with diesel motors got even less at 40.3 litres.
But the UK still isn't the worst European country for fuel prices.
Norway is the most expensive country on the continent, with £50 buying a measly 35 litres of petrol or 37 litres of diesel.
Late last year, we revealed how Brits are forced to shell out an extra £60 a year on petrol and diesel after pump prices rocketed.
