Is the Kahn Design Flying Huntsman the maddest car on sale in the UK? It’s a six-wheel off-roader – with a CONVERTIBLE roof
When it comes to serious off-road vehicles, the latest concept from Kahn Design is the king of the jungle. And with a retractable soft-top roof, its even suitable for a safari
THIS may well be the craziest car on the UK market - a beastly six-wheeled convertible.
British-based company Kahn Design has created the bespoke Land Rover Defender as a follow up to their 2015 concept vehicle.
Dubbed the Flying Huntsman 6x6 Soft-Top, the larger-than-life modified vehicle boasts a 6.2-litre V8 engine with 430bhp under the hood.
But the main attraction on this monster motor is its soft-top extension.
Built into the rear pickup bed, the truck has an additional compartment to allow it to carry an extra two passengers compared to the original hard-top concept car.
Those riding in the rear of the truck then get to experience the retractable soft-top, making it the ultimate summer off-roader - or safari vehicle if you want to take it global.
While the initial design is the only one of its kind, the company has said they plan on making the bespoke 6x6 available to the public in the coming months.
And considering the hard top held a price tag of approximately £250,000, the convertible is expected to fetch considerably more.
A spokesman for Kahn Design told The Sun: “Having received much acclaim for fashioning the Flying Huntsman 110 6X6 Double Cab Pick Up and Wide Body models, our latest coach built 6x6 is set to translate into the real world very soon, bringing an element of adventure, engineering and romanticism to the most seasoned of Defender owners and enthusiasts.
“This teaser sketch is a statement of intent, announcing that the dream of owning an uncompromisingly designed Flying Huntsman soft top model, designed by the UK's most avant-garde designer, is now a reality."
Latest news from Land Rover
The Flying Huntsman's soft-top version has been earmarked as a rival to the luxurious Mercedes G-Class Maybach G650 Landaulet.
With just 99 made, the Landaulet 4x4 featured a removable electric canvas roof, 630bhp V12 engine, 22-inch wheel, a separate enclosed driver compartment for the driver and fully-reclining massage seats for passengers.
But with a price tag of more than half a million pounds, it's not as affordable as the latest Flying Huntsman.
