Lamborghini Terzo Millennio unveiled – but the firm’s first electric model won’t go on sale until it SOUNDS like a supercar

LAMBORGHINI has pulled the wraps of its stunning new model - its first all-electric supercar.
The Terza Millenio is a wild concept from the minds of the famed Lambo designers - with a little help from boffins at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston.
And it features futuristic battery tech to deliver mind-blowing performance and lashings of carbon fibre to give it a spaceship design.
But the Italian car maker won't build the incredible Terza Millennio yet for one simple reason - it doesn't sound right.
Lamborghini wants its first electric car to sound like one of its Huracan, Gallardo or Aventador supercars - and not like Nissan's musical Canto either.
But recreating the famous V10 or V12 roar is a massive problem for plug-ins and chiefs admitted "deep investigation is needed".
The Italian supercar firm takes noise VERY seriously.
So much so that it already owns a multi-million pound ";acoustic test room" at its factory where it rolls finished cars in to tune the engine note.
Engineers simply won't let the stunning Terza Millennio be let down by a miserable whirring electric motor as it fires away from the traffic lights.
And blast away it will thanks to incredible supercapacitor electric technology that will deliver brutal acceleration.
The tech is currently used on cars in smaller components but Lamborghini and MIT are plotting to create a main battery with it.
Like all Lamborghinis it'll be all-wheel drive to cope with the power and nano-technology is built in to "self-repair" carbon-fibre panels.
There's a virtual cockpit, too, with a "piloted driving simulation" where a driver can be taken around a track such as Imola by a virtual expert before taking control.
The owner would then be able to experience the real car and circuit while following the virtual ghost car.
Think Gran Turismo but with millions of pounds worth of supercar around you rather than a dog-eared sofa.
Terzo Millenio translates as "third millenium" and this is very much a car for the future having already spent a year in development.
Stefano Domenicali, chairman and chief executive officer of Lamborghini, said: "Collaborating with MIT for our R&D department is an exceptional opportunity to do what Lamborghini has always been very good at: rewriting the rules on super sports cars.
"Now we are presenting an exciting and progressive concept car.
