Genius mechanic makes his very own £20,000 F1 car from scratch – and it’s totally road legal

Supercar fan Mišo Kuzmanović lived out his childhood dream by creating his very own racer - and he's now cruising around the streets of his town in the homemade motor

A GENIUS mechanic has revealed his very own F1 car – and he can even drive it on public roads.

Petrolhead Mišo Kuzmanović spent two years and around £20,000 building the race car from scratch.

Mišo’s childhood dream was to build his own race car

And after more than 1,000 hours of work, the engineer is now able to drive the homemade motor around Prnjavor in Bosnia.

Known as Mišo Schumacher in the town, he said it’s been a childhood dream to make his own race car.

Mišo first got the idea for a F1 design when the cars visited Belgrade for a promotion event and he was wowed by the noise.

It won’t be challenging Lewis Hamilton anytime soon, though, as the heavy frame means the engine isn’t quite up to speed.

The race car – which cost an estimated £20,000 – is now road legal

Mišo said: “It weighs around 1,200 kilograms which is too much for its engine.

“But it holds up and we still drive it.

“The engine has around 100 horsepower and the length of this vehicle is bigger than standard, around six metres long.”

And the F1-inspired racer also has two seats so he can share the ride with his wife.

The car fanatic added: “I had another problem, which my wife helped me resolve.

“When she asked me how many does it seat, I answered, “Me alone”.

“And she said, ‘Where am I going to sit?’ so I had to install the second seat.”

It’s been a real family affair with son Milen helping with the build – and he now drives it more than his dad.

Mišo says he won’t sell the car despite its high price tag as a one off

Milen said: “My father built for long hours and late nights.

“So we would come and help him and bring him food and check if everything was okay.

“It was a pleasure helping him and now we enjoy driving this vehicle together.”

After ploughing his own cash into his pride and joy, Mišo has no intention of parting ways with the car.

And he even turned down a €60,000 bid for the car.

He said: “Everybody wants to touch it, sit on it, lean on it, to take pictures with it.

Mišo ploughed more than 1,000 hours over two years into his creation

“I can tell you it is unique and every unique thing is expensive.

“I have many more ideas and I desire to create more things – but those are all little secrets.”
