Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio released – and it’s the fastest SUV ever with 176mph top speed
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio has been given a V6 upgrade with stunning acceleration and top speed. It's smashed the SUV record around the iconic Nürburgring test track to make it the fastest ever
ALFA Romeo has launched the fastest ever SUV with the hot Stelvio Quadrifoglio.
A huge V6 turbo has been strapped into the front of the hulking SUV to give it a top speed of 176mph.
And the 510bhp motor will race from 0-62mph in just 3.8 seconds - faster than an Aston Martin DB11.
The Stelvio Quadrifoglio was also sent to the iconic Nürburgring where it clocked a lap of seven minutes 51 seconds - the fastest time for a car of this class around the "Green Hell".
The standard £35,000 Stelvio was released earlier this year and now Alfa have given it a power makeover.
A F1-style paddle shift gearbox is now standard and there's a "Race" mode setting for the car - plus FOUR exhausts.
To help cope with all the extra power, the Stelvio is four-wheel drive with electronic grip tech to stop you sliding off track.
Ultra-lightweight materials such as carbon fibre driveshafts and aluminium in the engine, brakes and doors.
Despite the pin-you-in-your-seat performance, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio will likely spend most of its time in the UK on the school run.
And Alfa knows this so has packed in the tech for the luxury cabin decked out with carbon fibre, leather and Alcantara.

The centre of the dashboard is dominated by the new 8.8-inch Alfa Connect infotainment system - with 3D navigation.
It's configured for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, too.
Prices aren't confirmed but expect it to nudge well over £50,000 and for a range-topper somewhere close to £70k.
Deliveries are expected in summer 2018.
