Aston Martin, McLaren and TVR – the UK is the supercar capital of the world beating USA and Germany production

Germany, China and USA eat your heart out. The UK is the world leader in production of the sexiest and fastest cars in the world - and it's only set to get bigger

DONALD TRUMP won't be happy and Angela Merkel will grumble, but there's no hiding from the fact the UK is the supercar capital of the world.

New figures show Britain is the world leader in low volume, high value motors thanks to iconic cars from Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, McLaren and TVR.

And the specialist market is set to grow with super-rich owners around the world splashing the cash on Britain's sexy supercars.

By 2020, production of these beautiful and speedy motors will hit 52,000 - almost doubling on current rates, according to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

Last year, these supercar makers turned over £3.6billion as models were exported to the Middle East, USA, China and Japan - as well as Europe.

High-end models like the Aston Martin DB11 and McLaren P1 have helped turn the UK into a world leader.

And with the £3million Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar due for release alongside the all-new £90,000 TVR Griffith in the next few years, the future is bright.

The UK is also home to the London Taxi Company which will produce the next-generation electric cab to be exported around the globe and adds to the specialist car coffers.
