THE WAIT IS OVER

TVR Griffith released: The first new model for a decade – and it’s a £90,000 sports car that’ll hit 200mph

All-new TVR Griffith is the first model since the brand went bust in 2006 - and the British sports car packs a punch with 5.0-litre V8 under the bonnet

The first TVR for a decade has been uncovered - and it's a £90,000 sports car that will top 200mph.

The TVR Griffith is the debut model of the new British brand, revived after it went bust in 2006.

And it brings back both the brand and the model name - the Griffith was last produced between 1991 and 2002.

Under the bonnet of the new British muscle car is a 5.0-litre V8 producing 468bhp - that means it's good for 0-62mph in under four seconds.

And while it's an all-new body - designed by the famous Gordon Murray who penned the McLaren F1 - there's no doubt it's a TVR with a trademark long bonnet.

The back features a racy spoiler and an aggressive diffuser giving the TVR Griffith its mean stance.

Plus, you know any car with side exhausts means business.

The two-seater interior is a little more sparse but there are traditional dials and switches mixed in with up-to-date infotainment screens.

It's not quite the luxury you can get elsewhere for £90,000 - but then this is a TVR which has always been more about on-the-road thrills.

Customers have already put deposits down for the 500 Launch Editions which feature a full leather interior, custom alloy wheels and a bespoke infotainment system - plus unique paint options.

Prices start from £90,000 but production won't actually start until late 2018 - meaning you'll have to wait until 2019 to actually get the car delivered.

It's been a long road to this point over the last decade but TVR is finally back.

Les Edgar said: "Today’s unveiling is the culmination of nearly three years of tireless work by the team, and we’re all proud to be able to show the new TVR Griffith to the world.

"This is unmistakably a TVR, a British muscle car that’s as awesome and brutal as it is charismatic and refined.

"Importantly, the new TVR offers levels of technical sophistication, comfort, reliability and practicality never seen by the brand before."
