Rolling Stones rock god Keith Richards is selling his Ferrari – and it could be yours for £160,000
Guitarist and hellraiser Keith Richards bought the 150mph Ferrari new in 1983 - but has barely driven it in 35 years
ROCK star Keith Richards is selling a retro Ferrari that he's owned for 35 years - and it's expected to raise £160,000.
The Rolling Stones' guitarist bought the 150mph Ferrari 400i new in 1983 but has driven just 2,000 miles in the sportscar.
It was picked up from the Italian factory by the Stones' tour manager Alan Dunn along with seven others purchased by the band at the end of a successful European tour.
Mick Jagger and bass player Bill Wyman also got 400i models - but Richards still has it in his garage.
Richards' example, finished with a striking black and blue interior, was dropped off in Paris where he used it to commute to the studio while recording the album Dirty Work.
The car, capable of 0-60mph in seven seconds, was later transported to the UK where it was serviced regularly but driven rarely due to the hellraiser's extensive car collection.
As a result the motor, which has a 4.8-litre engine, is offered in exceptionally original condition and represents one of the finest surviving examples of the model.
A spokesman for auctioneers RM Sotheby's said: "This Ferrari 400i is offered directly from the collection of Keith Richards.
"The intrigue of celebrity provenance makes the sale a truly unrepeatable opportunity.
"A 400i offered from its original owner is a particularly rare and exceptionally desirable.

"Aside from its fascinating history, a Ferrari 400i remains the quintessential grand touring car of the marque
"This is one of the cleanest, most stunningly original examples we have ever seen, presenting almost exactly as it did from the factory.
"It is accompanied by its original books, including the warranty card, on which the original owner's name and Jamaican address are clearly printed."
The 400i was made by Ferrari between 1976 and 1979 with just 502 rolling off production lines.
The original 400, the first Ferrari available with an automatic transition, was replaced by the fuel injected 400i owned by Richards.
Richards' model will be sold at RM Sotheby's Leggenda e Passione sale in Maranello, the home of Ferrari, in Italy, on Saturday (September 9).
