WHEN it comes to our cars, we all have the best intentions to keep them spick and span.
But these shocking images show how all too often they become a dumping ground of clothes, shoes and rubbish - but which city's cars are the messiest?
Birmingham came top of the list, with 19 per cent of people polled admitting they clean their car only ONCE a year or less.
Second was London with 11 per cent of people claiming not to clean their motors very regularly.
The research, by car leasing specialist UK Carline, reveals we’re a nation of slobs, with more than a quarter of car owners waiting over three months before they clean the inside of their cars.
A whopping 69 per cent of respondents admitted to spilling either food or drinks in their car with 14 per cent even confessing to letting food go mouldy in there.
A further 11 per cent have slept in their cars, while nearly one in five have admitted to having sex in their vehicle.
Hannah Lees, who works in sales, uses her car as a mobile wardrobe.
She said: “My car is basically my second wardrobe, I am always going to various meetings and pitches last minute so I always keep a backup outfit and shoes on my back seat!”

Samantha Devine confessed that her busy schedule is the reason for her car being messy: “Life really just gets in the way. I have a full time job as a social worker which as you can imagine, gets a bit hectic on occasion.
"I have two teenage children who are not particularly helpful and a hubby who is a total workaholic and is not really a car person.
"I did promise when I got this car that I would keep it clean - I did for the first month"
Joyce Julianne explains that the state of her car often leaves her feeling embarrassed: “I don't know how it ends up like this, but last time I took it for a service, I asked them NOT to valet it because I was too embarrassed," she said.
