Ford scrappage scheme 2017 – when does the deal start and which models can you buy?
Drivers of any car registered before December 2009 can get between £2,000 and £7,000 off a new Ford car
FORD is offering drivers up to £7,000 off its new motors if they trade in their old cars and vans.
The scrappage scheme is being rolled out as manufacturers step up to slash pollution and rake in new customers — but what does it involve? Here's the lowdown...
What is the Ford scrappage scheme?
Drivers of any car registered before December 2009 are eligible for a £2,000 scrappage incentive to upgrade to a newer model.
This £2,000 discount can be combined with a variable extra saving provided by Ford depending on your choice of new motor.
It means a discount of between £2,000 and £7,000 is up for grabs.
And unlike trade-in deals brought in by Mercedes, and BMW, Ford will guarantee to scrap the car so the dirty car won’t find its way back onto the road.
Which models can be traded in and what models can be bought?
Owners can get rid of any pre-Euro 5 diesel or petrol cars of any make and model registered before December 2009.
In return they get at least £2,000 cash off a brand new, Euro 6 Fiesta, Focus or Transit.
The deal also extends to the B-Max, C-Max and Kuga.
But the Mondeo, Galaxy and Edge are not included in the offer.
When does the deal start?
The Ford scrappage scheme has now began will last only four months.
December 31 is the cut off date for new participants in the scheme.
Ford is expecting thousands to take up the offer with as many as 19million drivers eligible to take part.

Do other manufacturers have similar schemes?
BMW was among the first car giants to introduce a money off scheme specifically for older diesels.
The German maker is offering owners of older diesels - typically made before 2009 - £2,000 off all new BMW or MINI vehicles which produce emissions of less than 130g/km.
And Mercedes too is slashing £2,000 off a new Euro 6 diesel, pure electric or plug-in hybrid when customers trade in their old car.
Until December 31, any diesels made between 1992 and 2010 are eligible for trade-in as long as you’ve owned the car – regardless of brand – for longer than six months.
Volkswagen car owners can bag themselves a £10,000 discount for a new motor in its trade-in scheme.
currently offers a similar £2,000 scrappage scheme – extending it beyond its original June cut-off date – with cash off most of its range in return for ditching your old motor.
