MAGNIFICENT SEVEN

Amazing collection of rare but deadly 1980s rally cars including Lancias, Audis and Fords up for sale

With multiple world titles between them, this magnificent seven of rallying legends could raise MILLIONS at auction

A COLLECTION of original rare rally legends from the dangerous Group B days is to go on sale.

Including a Lancia Stratos and Audi Sport Quattro, it's the first time in decades examples of these models have been made available.

With a handful of World Rally Championship titles and dozens of rally wins between them the bunch could raise millions at auction.

Known as the Killer Bees because of their dangerous but exotic performance, the 80s era is still considered by many the peak of rallying.

There's currently no reserve on any of the models but a road-going version of the 1980s Audi recently sold at auction for around £300,000.

The earliest model on offer is a 1975 Lancia Stratos HF Stradale - a version of which won a hat-trick of world titles between 1974 and 1976.

It's been owned by the seller since 1989 and has just 7,835 miles on the clock.

A 1983 Lancia Rally 037 Stradale is also up for sale having been the last rear-wheel drive car to win the world title.

Rounding out a trio of the classic Lancias is a Delta S4 Stradale - the wild 1985 had a supercharger AND a turbocharger.

The 1985 Audi Sport Quattro S1 might not have won the title did top the charts at the legendary Pike's Peak hill climb and was runner-up in the World Rally Championship.

Much like the factory entries that won the 1985 and 1986 title, the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 on sale still wears its original tyres having only been driven for 692 miles.

Rounding out the magnificent seven are a pair of Fords from 1986.

The RS200 Evolution was considered the fastest accelerating car from a standing start when it went into production and only 24 were ever built.

The standard RS200 is one of only 200 made in order to meet eligibility rules for the World Rally Championship.

The Bonhams auction will be conducted at Quail Lodge in Carmel, California in August.
