A graveyard of cars uncovered on the estate of a deceased undertaker are to be given a new lease of life when they sell for £150,000
Funeral hearses, vintage 1940s models and Porsche sports cars headline eclectic garage up for sale
An undertaker's graveyard of cars found in storage after his death are to be given a new lease of life when they go to auction for £150,000.
The collection includes hearses and black limousines used for funerals, vintage cars dating back to the 1940s and modern day sports cars.
The unnamed funeral director compiled a 38-strong collection of vehicles before his death last year including a pair of Porsche 911 Carrera cabriolets.
One from 1996 is estimated to sell for £40,000 while the other, 10 years older, is worth £20,000.
There are eight funeral cars, including a pair of Ford limousines, valued at £30,000.
And an aged Chevrolet Fleetmaster dating to 1946 worth £8,000 will be sold alongside a racy 450bhp Nissan GT-R.
The GT-R is the priciest of the lot at £40,000 thanks to a 3.8-litre engine and 185mph top speed.
Also included is a 1968 Jaguar S-type valued at £8,000.
The former owner, who died aged in his 60s, stored his work vehicles at home in Porthcawl, Bridgend, Wales, and his more valuable ones in a warehouse 10 miles away.
The warehouse was even fitted with a bed so he could stay the night to tinker.
The owner was fanatical about cars and compiled an eclectic mix of motors over the years, buying whatever he fancied at the time.
The auction house said: "He clearly never sold anything because there were cars all the way at the back of his garage which probably hadn't been touched in years.
"It was a bizarre collection to come across, like a graveyard of vehicles.
"It's sad when collectors like this gentlemen pass away but I'm confident he'd have been happy to see his vehicles sold on to other enthusiasts, who will treasure and maintain them."
The undertaker's collection will be sold by Richard Edmonds Auctions of Chippenham, Wilts.on June 17.
