New novice friendly Ducati DRE Enduro Tour gives a taste for what’s in store for the hardcore

THE Ducati Riding Experience – a two-day trek in Tuscany – was set up to allow bikers to use Ducatis in the environment they were designed for, on the race track or off-road.
But with the success of bikes like the Multistrada, which eats boggy trails, Ducati now offers taster sessions closer to home.
And they’re calling it the Ducati DRE Enduro Tour.
We joined Dakar Rally legend Beppe Gualini for the first of the events, in windswept Wales.
Out in the middle of a field, with just a Ducati trailer in the backdrop, the day starts with getting riders used to the feel of the Multistrada.

Several stations are set up, with cone turns and ladder obstacle bumps.
The instructors talk riders through each of the obstacles, giving direction on how to shift weight and make life easier for yourself.
These are big and tall bikes, but if you listen to what the instructors are telling you, it’s not half as scary as it seems at the start.
The whole day is completely novice friendly – there’s absolutely no pressure to perform.
Our rider John bottled it on the first station, but thanks to crash bars there was no issue and it’s definitely better doing it on someone else’s bike than your own.
In the end, it’s all about getting comfortable with what the bike can do and how you get it there.
This was just the taster – the full experience is on dedicated off-road tracks in Italy.
