Ultra-rare 60s Ford Mustang with ENORMOUS 5.4L supercharged V8 engine and aggressive spoiler to sell at auction

AN INCREDIBLY rare Ford Mustang with a supercharged V-8 engine is up for sale.

Petrolheads are thrilled to have spotted this 60s icon on the market set to be sold next month.

The custom-built 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback has a powerful 5.4L engine at auction and comes in a sophisticated PPG Metallic Grey.

With aggressive spoilers, widened fender flares, rear quarter-panel scoop sand fastback roof vents it's no wonder it gained some recognition.

The motor was crowned the 2023 Goodguys PPG Street Machine of the Year and won the Outstanding Engineering Award at the 2023 Grand National Roadster Show.

Dubbed the DS-500R, this one-of-a-kind masterpiece was completed by Ironworks Speed and Kustom in Bakersfield, California.

The Mustang’s heart is its supercharged aluminium 5.4L V-8 engine, paired with Holley Dominator electronic fuel injection.

The model boasts 3D-printed rocker panel mouldings with custom-machined extensions, and a custom-machined grille.

It also offers a lower front spoiler, a custom hood scoop and one-off 6-spoke 19 and 20-inch EVOD machined wheels.

The carefully curated features gives it an aggressive look that would send any Mustang fan wild.

With remarkable body modifications, designed by well-known automobile designers Sean Smith and Tavis Highlander, the DS-500R certainly stands out.

A fierce exterior always needs to be complimented by an eye-catching interior and the 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback does not disappoint.

Pictures reveal the striking custom red leather upholstery paired with machined aluminium components by EVOD.

If you're keen to get your hands on it, the car will be auctioned by Mecum Auctions on March 22nd in Glendale.

The listing reads: "The model also features a custom-built suspension system, a Detroit Speed front suspension with tubular control arms, rack-and-pinion steering, and a custom frame clip with 4-link rear suspension.

"It also features a custom stainless exhaust system incorporating Borla mufflers which removes the spent gases.

"It is also fitted with a Tremec T56 6-speed manual transmission from Bowler Performance Transmissions that routes the blown engine’s abundant power and torque rearward.

"This 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback DS-500R is the ultimate combination of style, performance, and craftsmanship, making it a rare opportunity for any enthusiast.”
