The motor was a hit with A-listers
ELVIS Presley’s favourite motor is up for sale – the legendary 1958 BMW has hit the market for an eye-watering six-figure sum.
It’s no wonder the King of Rock and Roll took a shine to this rare model as only 21 of its kind exist.
The 1958 BMW 507 Series II Roadster is on sale for a whopping £1.8million.
Automotive icon Max Hoffman commissioned the car and used illustrations from renowned designer Albrecht Graf von Goertz.
The rare and luxurious is regarded as one of the most beautiful cars ever made and quickly attracted the attention of a range of A-listers.
Elvis Presley, Alain Delon, Ursula Andress, John Surtees, and King Baudouin of Belgium all owned a 507.
Manufactured on January 14, 1958, the car is revered as the peak of BMW‘s craftsmanship.
The chassis number 70110 features a removable hardtop and distinctive factory exhaust tips, making it instantly recognisable.
Proudly standing as one of the only 21 examples finished in Silbergrau or Silver Metallic, the glistening motor comes with a hefty price tag.
Images show the refined roadster with a plunging nose, a slanted variation of BMW’s trademark twin-kidney grille, sculpted front fenders, and chrome detailing around the headlights.
It’s been fitted with BMW’s advanced all-aluminium 3.2-litre overhead-valve V8 engine producing 148 horsepower and paired with a four-speed synchromesh transmission.
Petrolheads are thrilled to spot the motor being auctioned by Broad Arrow Auctions during its Amelia Auction 2025 lineup.
The listing reads: “This car is one of just 253 examples built, and has been well documented by BMW Classic Expertise Book with Zertifikat.
“It will be delivered new in Silver Metallic with an optional, factory-installed Hard Top.
“It is equipped with date-coded original Rudge wheels and front disc brakes.
“The car is offered with a factory toolkit, owner’s manual, workshop manual, and period literature.
“It is eligible for the most prestigious concours d’elegance and driving events.”
The 1958 BMW 507 Series II Roadster was aimed at the American market.
Intended to compete with the opulent Mercedes-Benz 300SL, the vehicle is dripping with glamour.
“It features a supremely elegant and timeless all-aluminium bodywork and throaty, lightweight V8 engine,” the listing continues.
“This car is among the most iconic and collectable BMW models produced to date.”
