Much-loved hot hatchback reveals final ever model before it’s discontinued – with no replacement lined up

A MUCH-loved hot hatchback has revealed its final ever model before it is discontinued - with no replacement lined up.

The Suzuki Swift Sport will be celebrated with a Final Edition model before it is scrapped.

Suzuki launched the Swift Sport ZC33S back in 2017 with a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 138bhp and 170 lb-ft of torque.

It had a kerb weight of just 975kg and got a new powertrain in 2020 to help the car comply with emissions rules.

The engine was the same unit as before but weakened to 127bhp and was topped up with a 48v starter-generator.

But the original high-power model stayed on sale in Japan, Suzuki's homeland.

It has now inspired the Final Edition, which can reportedly reach 62mph in 8.1 seconds and top out at 130mph.

The car has black wheels, red brake callipers and ZC33S graphics on the C-pillar.

Its interior has aluminium-effect inserts with an unusual blue and red gradient pattern.

The Final Edition is only on sale in Japan and costs ¥2,329,800 (around £11,900) for a manual or ¥2,401,300 (around £12,300) for an automatic.

In theory, you could fork up another few grand to ship the hot hatch to Britain.

Production will run from March to November 2025 - before the Swift Sport passes into motoring history.

Suzuki announced that the standard Swift Sport will no longer be produced after February 2025.

Back in July, it was revealed that Suzuki was having a major clearout with four popular models being scrapped to pave the way for their very first EV.

The demise of the Swift Sport was revealed alongside that of Suzuki's Jimny, Ignis and Swace models - with all of them making way for a new range of EVs.

Last month the Japanese car manufacturer unveiled its first electric vehicle - the e VITARA.

The first mass-production BEV (Battery Electic Vehicle) was revealed in Milan, Italy, with production set to begin in Spring 2025 in India.

Suzuki fans could get their hands on the e VITARA across various countries including India, Japan, and places in Europe by the summer.

The President of Suzuki said: ";The e VITARA is our first BEV, developed through repeated trial and error to create an easy-to-use BEV for our customers.

"In order to realize a carbon-neutral society, we will provide a variety of options, including BEVs, hybrid vehicles, and CNG vehicles, tailored to specific regions.

"Introduction of the e VITARA represents a significant milestone in achieving carbon neutrality.

"Following the launch of the e VITARA, we will continue to expand our BEV line-up and propose mobility solutions tailored to the needs of specific countries and regions."
