Cheapest supermarket petrol stations revealed ahead of Christmas getaway – our interactive tool can find one near you
THE CHEAPEST supermarket petrol stations across Britain have been revealed as millions prepare for the Christmas getaway.
It’s thought that a record number of cars will hit the roads in the days leading up to Christmas - meaning many will be extra-conscious of the cost of fuel.
It appears regular Tesco and Morrisons customers might be left particularly short-changed as Sainsbury's and Asda dominate the list of the 10 cheapest petrol stations in the country.
To that end, analysis from motoring experts at Tiger.co.uk found that the Sainsbury’s in Doncaster is the most affordable supermarket petrol pump in the entire country.
Motorists can fuel up for just 127.9p per litre, almost a penny cheaper than the Asda in Aberdeen - which sits at number two.
Indeed, while they miss out on top spot, Asda boasts six stores in the top 10 cheapest - compared to Sainsbury’s four.

Ian Wilson, Managing Director at Tiger.co.uk, said shopping at the cheapest pumps could make a big difference when it comes to saving money at Christmas time.
He said: “It is fantastic news for motorists that this is set to be the cheapest Christmas at the pumps since 2020.

Travelling over Christmas could be extra tricky as the AA suggests a record number of cars will hit the highways.
Friday, December 20 will be the busiest day with some 23.7 million drivers expected to be on the roads - the highest since records began in 2010.
Festive journeys around the M25, M6 around Birmingham and the M4 out of London all expected to be busier than usual.
Saturday, December 21 and Monday, December 23 will offer little respite, with each set to see 22.7 million drivers on the roads - resulting in the AA issuing several amber traffic warnings.
Traffic hotspots have already been identified with Saturday expected to be particularly hectic for the M1 around Meadowhall, the M25 around Bluewater and the M60 around the Trafford Centre.
Meanwhile, Monday could see chaos for parts of the M1, the M42 J3A to J8, the A64 around York and the A303 around Stonehenge.
Both the M5 from Bristol to Taunton, and the A34 Oxford to Newbury have been listed as potential traffic hotspots on the same day.
This comes as cash-hit van drivers are set to enjoy a Christmas bonus thanks to The Sun — after it was revealed they will be £215 better off over the next 12 months.
The boost came after Chancellor Rachel Reeves listened to our calls and opted to continue the fuel duty freeze at the Budget.
In another win for our Keep It Down campaign, she kept the levy rate at 52.95p per litre rather than adding an inflationary increase of 7p per litre.

And White Van Man will be the biggest winner, with £215 saved for those clocking up 25,000 miles or more.
The average car driver who travels around 7,000 miles a year is likely to save £55, while families with two vehicles could be £100 better off.
