Ultra-rare Porsche from the 90s with 184mph top speed and twin-turbocharged engine hits the market for £900,000

Only 43 of the factory-built racers were manufactured

AN ultra-rare Porsche from the 90s has hit the market for £900,000 - boasting a top speed of 184mph and a twin-turbocharged engine.

In the early 90s, Porsche built a small number of the road-registered 911 GT2R racer model.

Snaps show the race car in a Grand Prix White finish, with a fully adjustable rear wing.

It is fitted with a single Recaro bucket seat with Sabelt harness, Alcantara-clad MOMO steering wheel and a welded-in roll cage.

Manufactured in 1994-95, only 43 of these factory-built racers were completed.

Only a handful of those were registered for road use, including the model on offer.

This iconic car is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.6-litre M64/81 flat-six engine, producing up to 450bhp and 479lb/ft of torque.

It can go from 0-60 mph in 3.0 seconds and reach a top track speed of 184 mph.

The GTR will be auctioned on Saturday 22nd February 2025 at 11.00 am GMT at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry by Iconic Auctioneers.

The listing reads: "This iconic car is fitted with a Premier Racing 100-litre fuel cell and a set of 18" wheels with central connectors.

"The car also has racing specification suspension, a fully adjustable rear wing, upgraded KKK turbos, high-lift camshafts, an extra oil cooler, and a bespoke exhaust.

"The Tag Electronics ECU, which was reportedly only ever fitted to the GT2R and which has recently been serviced by McLaren.

"The wheel arches are wider than those on the standard 993 Turbo, meaning it can fit 295-section rear tyres and 265-section front items, maximising grip.

"This model also has an OEM carbon flat-floor kit, requiring the fitment of upgraded rear arches and upper wing sections, which were installed after it left the factory.

"Originally manufactured in Stuttgart, before being exported to Japan and subsequently the UK, it has never been raced.

"It has reportedly only ever been driven on the road or at track days organised by Porsche Japan.

"This exceptional and sought-after 911 has been very well-maintained.

"It is now ready to join a collection of rare Porsche models or be enjoyed at prestigious Historic Motorsport events worldwide."
