BMW launch new ‘overhaul’ of flagship EV – with swish new design, range-boosting battery and friction-resistant wheels
BMW has launched a new "overhauled" version of its flagship EV model, boosting a rang-boosting battery update and friction-resistant wheels.
The revised motor is set to hit showrooms within months and is set to retain a controversial styling feature.
Beemer debuted the iX in 2020 after a two-year concept run.
It was only the German brand's second fully electric car, behind 2013's i3.
But the model has sparked much debate among enthusiasts for a radical shakeup of its appearance.
Most notably, fans were divided over the redesign of BMW's iconic grille.

Bosses made the decision to move away from wide and short intakes at the front to a pair of more rectangular ones.
This prompted criticisms from some customers, who complained that the firm had fundamentally changed the character of its cars.
Now, Beemer is introducing a reworked version of the design for the 2025 model year.
Initial teaser pictures show the car in testing, disguised by a camouflage wrap.
There will be some changes to the headlight array and some other minor exterior details.
But the opinion-splitting grille looks to be here to stay.
Under the bodywork, a new battery has been developed for the car, which promises to increase both range and power.
Bosses credit this to a set of 'friction-reducing' wheels, providing a 10% boost to efficiency, and greater cell capacity.
As with its predecessor, there will be a range of specs available, including an M variant which will boast higher horsepower and s sports braking system, identified by the red calipers on the wheels.
The base model will also see revised suspension, including a new hydraulic rear axle, to improve ride quality.
The new iX is expected to come to the UK in 2025, with a similar £70,000 price tag to the previous generation.
