A band of wintry weather is expected to soak coastal areas and much of the north with snow, rain and ice.

Alex Deakins, from the Met Office, said: "Cold air will be flooding its way south over Saturday night/

"By the time we get to the early hours of Sunday morning, much of Scotland will be covered in freezing levels where ground is only at 400m."

Temperatures as low as -1C are forecast for parts of Scotland by Monday, while even more southern areas could see lows of 4C.

While some might enjoy the winter chill, it's a nuisance for motorists trying to keep their cars in top shape.

Particularly, rain and ice can be damaging to windscreens, with the rapid cooling causing cracks and scratches.

And even if it doesn't cause any damage, an icy windscreen can be a time-consuming issue to deal with on a cold morning.

Properly clearing your view is essential before setting out, as not doing so can result in a £2,500 fine.

You must de-ice the entirety of the windscreen and any mirrors to make sure you have the widest possible view.

Fortunately, the RAC has put together a list of items that can make this chore a whole lot easier.

The most essential of these is an ice-scraper, which has long been a staple of British gloveboxes.

But B&M has supercharged this gadget with its 3-in-1 scraper, available for just £1.

The tool includes "ice breaker teeth" to help loosen even the most stubborn ice.

This is then paired with a plastic scraper edge to clear the glass with ease and a rubbed wiper blade on the other edge that lets you wipe away excess water and prevent it from icing back up in minutes.

However, the scraper is only available in-store and is not eligible for online orders.

You can find your local B&M branch using the postcode checker on the brand's website.

And if it's not for you, it's no problem as you can return the scraper for a full refund within 30 days as long as it's in original condition and comes with proof of purchase.
