McLaren ‘Hyper-GT’ car set to be brand’s fastest ever road-going vehicle
British performance specialists McLaren have given fans the first glimpse of their latest hypercar
THE evolution of the hypercar has reached new heights.
This week, British performance car specialists McLaren released a sketch of their BP23 hypercar concept, giving us the first insight into what will be the company's most powerful car.
Little is known about the proposed luxurious, three-seater with a hybrid powertrain, however the company is slowly drip feeding information to the public.
The unusual three-seat layout is designed as homage to the F1 - McLaren's most loved road car of all time.
Speaking with at the Geneva Motor Show, CEO Mike Flewitt confirmed that the BP23 would be McLaren's fastest ever vehicle, but was careful to clarify exactly how it would earn that title.
"There are many definitions of fastest,” Flewitt said.
“Could be fastest from 100-200mph… it is very powerful and has very low drag.
“The BP23 won’t be the fastest round a track. It’s not a track car. It’s a luxury hyper-GT.
"And we’re not doing a Chiron here. It has to be a McLaren.”
The British carmaker has already said they will only be making 106 examples of the model built, and all will be pre-sold, making it possible for owners to work alongside McLaren Special Operations to select colours, trim materials and other points of personalisation unique to them.
