We built world’s FLATTEST car with ‘invisible’ wheels that ‘sink’ in tarmac – but you need phone to see where it’s going

A PAIR of whacky petrolheads have created the world's flattest car, so low that its "invisible" wheels "sink" into the tarmac.

The bizarre motor is actually based on a beloved classic, which the team have sliced in half.

An Italian car modification firm is taking low-riders to a whole new level with its unusual creation.

Matteo Marzetti and Nicola Guadagnin from Italian company Carmagheddon have plenty of experience with out-of-the-box motors.

The team have made everything from a motorbike that rides upside-down to road legal, driveable wheelie bin.

But perhaps their wildest project is a car that only gets about half an inch off the ground.

The model is based on a retro Fiat Panda, which Matteo and Nicola have cut in half, leaving nothing but the bonnet, windows, windshield and roof.

Underneath the new frame, they installed a set of tiny wheels which are pretty much invisible to the naked eye.

And the newly blacked-out windows hide a mini go-kart frame that has been welded onto the inside of the cabin.

The steering wheel has been removed because it was too chunky and replaced by a modified video game controller.

It's definitely not one for long roads trips as the driver has to crawl in through the boot and stay on their knees the whole time.

Plus, since the windows are so heavily tinted, you actually have connect your phone to a spy camera attached to the frame just to see where you are going.

Yet the test driver confirmed that it rides smoothly across both gravel and concrete - though it can't get much above 10mph.

Social media commenters were left stunned by the car's performance.

One wrote: "This project goes straight into the Carmagheddon hall of fame.

"It is so well made that it seems to sink into the ground."

Another added: "We want the Guinness World Record certificate."

It comes after cinema fans brought Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to life in honour of the iconic film car.
