THIS is the moment a car was caught making an illegal turn down a slip road before it drove towards oncoming traffic.
However, many sympathetic viewers believe the motorist isn't entirely to blame for the mistake.
In dashcam footage shared by a car following behind, a black SUV can be seen making its way on the London-bound M2 slip road from the A249 Maidstone-bound, Kent.
But it seems after realising that they had made a wrong turn, the driver then drives off the A249 slip road and heads onto the Stockbury roundabout’s designated London-bound slip road, presumably to avoid joining the M2.
This meant that the car was then travelling on the wrong side of the road.
At the time this footage was recorded back in March, the M2 junction five London-bound exit slip at Stockbury was closed, meaning the A249 Maidstone-bound was shut from the Stockbury roundabout to Church Hill.

According to , this meant there was no access to the A249 from Oad Street or South Green Lane.
This confusing set of circumstances might have been the reason for the driver's mistake, although many commenters, noting the car's non-UK number plate, believe it might have been a simple mix-up by a foreign driver.
One wrote: "I sympathise with foreign drivers having to navigate some of our roads these days with all the roadworks, daft signage etc.
"And hands up, many years ago, without thinking, I once went the wrong way round a roundabout on a quiet road in Sweden."

"I left the island a few months ago and keep coming back on a monthly basis with changes being made.
"Everybody is fed up with the improvements, stuck in traffic for ages, and signage not being totally clear when you have to make split decisions.
"Granted, this guy has taken an extreme decision and I'm not condoning it, but it's getting stupid with the roadworks and changes made on layouts."
However, the motorist who caught the incident on his dashcam believes there is no excuse for such a driving gaffe as "there are enough signs" before the turnoff.
He said: "I drive this way every day, this doesn't surprise me at all.
“I see similar driving often along the A249 and I've been hit on the back of my car by a van that was cutting in behind me to jump the queue not that long ago – fortunately it was just a scrape that got painted over.
“There are enough signs before it, but I guess people don't pay attention.
“I'd say driving in general around here is very poor and there are accidents far too often."
