Turbo charged Nissan Patrol sets new 206.9 mph world record in Qatar

A fire-breathing Nissan Patrol has smashed world records, going so fast its doors flew off!

NEVER before has an SUV travelled so rapidly.

A new record was set recently in Qatar, with a supercharged Nissan Patrol 4x4 topping out at a blistering 206.9 mph (333.82 km/h) to become the fastest SUV across the half-mile in the world.

However, this is no regular Patrol.

Constructed by drag racing specialists AAP Performance, the Nissan's regular six-cylinder engine was replaced with a twin-turbo engine with an estimated 2000 horsepower.

While the car is still essentially a Nissan Patrol at heart, it has been stripped back and modified in almost every way possible.

The front grill has been replaced with a carbon fibre cover and the headlights removed, while the interior has been stripped back to the bones, with just a racing seat and roll cage added.

The only thing that has remained relatively stock is the vehicle's height.

All the customising worked, with the vehicle managing to not only break the record, but travel so fast that it blew its own side passenger door off.
