The evergreen VW Polo has been a reliable supermini loved the world over since it was first unveiled all the back in 1975.

Six generations of the little motor have existed in that time, with the current sixth-gen model first sold in 2017.

That means the very stylish fifth-gen Polo, which was sold from 2009 until 2017, can now be found at a bargain price second hand.

Indeed, the Swansway Motor Group have two rather nice examples of their own, both priced under £8,000.

That includes an incredibly economical from 2015.

The dealership's experts described the Polo as a "compact yet practical" hatchback that features five doors and plenty of space inside.

Ideal for both city driving and longer journeys, their 1.0-litre example has a fuel economy of 58.9 MPG.

They added: "The car is spacious, seating up to five passengers comfortably, and is equipped with features such as bluetooth phone connectivity, composition media system and eight speakers designed to enhance your daily commute.

"Its economical 999 cc engine makes it an ideal choice for budget-conscious drivers looking for a reliable yet stylish ride."

This example, which has 64,624 miles on the clock, is priced at just £7,140.

The price of a 1.2-litre model from 2016 isn't much greater, either.

The Swansway Motor Group picked out their model currently available at £7,849 as a "versatile hatchback that combines efficiency with a touch of style."

They even added that the little VW is ULEZ compliant, making it a great option for city drivers or those who regularly commute.

It was recently revealed, by the CEO of VW, no less, that the Polo could be on the market until the end of this decade.

The Polo was set to become obsolete after the initial proposals of the Euro Seven emission regulations, which were supposed to be introduced this year.

However, the tight emission rules proposed in the EU7 regulations were diminished after receiving widespread criticism from the auto industry.

Carmakers were worried about the cost of compliance and added development they would have to incur to make their motors keep selling.

Schäfer told  the revised emission rules, dubbed EU6e, are not as "not as crazy it was posited initially" and "Polo will carry on".
